Sunday Morning Worship:

Our 9:30 am worship service blends the traditional and contemporary styles of worship. Each Sunday we strive to experience the presence of God through prayer, reflection and music. We also have a childrens' message each morning where kids of all ages are invited to come sit on the front steps and hear a little story/object lesson just for them. Following the children's message, kids ages 3 through 2nd grade are invited to go to either Little Lambs or Worship Center. (See below for more info.) Our Sunday morning service is also broadcast live on KBEK 95.5 FM-Mora at 10:00 am.

Return to the list of our services

Beth Moore Women's Bible Study is an in-depth Bible study where you will find help and encouragement for your daily Christian walk. Through this ministry by Beth Moore, you will grow in your faith in Jesus Christ, strengthen friendships, and gain tools to reach out with God's love to those in your family, workplace, and community.

This Bible study contains 10 lessons, which we break into two parts, taking two weeks on each lesson. We break into our pre-assigned discussion groups on week one, and view the Beth Moore video on week two. We also encourage prayer requests in the safe environment of your small group. We encourage women from the community to join us, as we begin our study in September, and finish in March. We meet Monday evenings starting at 6:45 and ending between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m.  Please call Myra Minks at 763-389-1539 with questions.

Bread for Life:

The Pease church, in conjunction with area farmers and businesses and other CRC churches use donated land to raise crops which are sold and the profits used to support the Food Resource Bank. The Food Resource Bank is an international humanitarian effort to provide ways for people to become more self reliant in providing their basic necessities of life. It might be through showing them how to plant, fertilize, and water a garden or helping them drill a well for a clean water supply. All donations, discounts, and volunteer work go to make this program more profitable. Contact people are Alan Byker at 320-369-4348, Don Kiel at 320-369-4244, or Kevin Santema at 320-369-4590.

Childrens' Worship Center:

Return to the list of our services

Children, ages three through seven, begin the worship service in the sanctuary with their parents. During the Morning Worship Service, the children are invited to come sit on the front steps for a children's message. At the conclusion, ages 3-7 are dismissed to the Worship Center. Greeters and trained worship leaders meet the children in the narthex where the children are separated into two groups based on their age. Three and four year old children meet together in the Little Lambs room and ages five through seven meet in the Worship Center room. The Worship Centers provide an appropriate setting for children to praise and worship God through participation. Just as in adult worship a liturgy is followed: We approach God (the greeting and songs of praise), We proclaim God's Word (telling the story with figures and manipulatives), respond to God's Word, we give thanks (reading from the Bible and prayers of thanksgiving), and we go in God's name (closing song and benediction). The children are dismissed individually to their parents at the end of the service. The Worship Center is located at the very end of the lower hallway. Look for Noah's Ark! Contact Lorraine Veurink at 320-982-1509 with questions or to set up a time for orientation to the worship center if your children plan to attend regularly.

Circles of Hope:

Return to the list of our services

Circles of Hope is a community ministry that started at Pease CRC under the name  "HopeBuilders" over 8 years ago. It has since been relocated into downtown Milaca at Zion Lutheran Church. CoH strives to provide a safe place for struggling families and individuals to share a meal, find encouragement and assistance, and have a break from the normal day to day routine. Our goal is to have two or three Allies come alongside these individuals and families (We like to call them participants.) to help them achieve whatever goals they have set for themselves in regards to family, relationships, parenting, budgeting, education, etc.

CoH meets the first Thursday night of every month at 6:00pm at Zion Lutheran in Milaca. Everyone is invited. Supper is provided and activities for the kids are planned. This group is a joint venture between Pease CRC, Zion Lutheran, Starfish Ministries, and other Milaca area churches. Contact Trudy Ash (983-2469) if you have any questions.

Below is an article by Dawn Slade that ran in the Mille Lacs County Times in May of 2009.

Circles of Hope offers help, hope

by Dawn Slade

When Christ died on the cross there were those who doubted. There were also those filled with hope who waited for His resurrection.

Many will celebrate Easter this weekend at church and share in a big meal with all the trimmings. But, there are many who struggle with financial issues, relationships or being a single parent. They are more likely to be filled with stress, sorrow and despair than hope.

Circles of Hope is hoping to reach out to those people in need - those people who need help, who  need hope.

What was once known as Hope Builders is now Circles of Hope, coordinated by Trudy Ash and Bonnie Smith, a ministry coordinator.

Circles of Hope meets the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Dinner is provided, as well as child care. The meeting lasts until 8 p.m.

The purpose of Circles of Hope is to build relationships by having “participants” meet with “allies” in a big circle.

Participants are anyone who is struggling (individuals and/or families) and in need of healthy relationships and who wants to increase their self reliance.

Allies are community members who want to make a difference and can share their time, talent, knowledge and skills with  others by primarily offering hope and sharing their love of Christ.

Following dinner is a meeting time for the adults   featuring speakers on relevant topics and discussions. Nursery and children’s activities are provided for the little ones.

The first Circles of Hope meeting was held Thursday, April 2 and focused on forgiveness.

But, Smith said the topics of discussion will be driven by the participants and their needs.

“We’re trying to build community support,” Ash said. That’s part of the reason they’ve moved to Zion Lutheran, to be more accessible to the area residents. (Hope Builders met in Pease since 2000.)

In addition to the main topic, it will be a resource for those in need. Maybe someone needs a computer fixed and someone else in the group knows how to fix it, or someone is in need of employment and another participant or ally knows of a job opening.

Participants can also share prayer requests and at the end of the meting will be asked to give an affirmation of the person next to them, so everyone leaves on a good note.

There is also a list of guiding principles that include confidentiality; a welcoming atmosphere; being honest about the past and present; taking responsibility for one’s feelings, words and behavior; listening to others and not attending the meeting under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There will be various circles. Anyone can attend the “Big Circle,” beyond that there will be smaller circles in which there will be a participant and two to three allies to work on the participant’s specific goals.

In order to move onto that smaller circle the participant(s) will have to complete an application and show motivation to want to move forward.

At this time, Smith said  Circles of Hope is need of allies.

“We need people who are willing to come and be part of the solution,” Smith said. “The success of this hinges upon people coming and sharing their lives.”

Participants need not have any religious affiliation. Allies, however, should be Christians who want to share, whether that’s how to be a better parent, how to create a resume, balance a checkbook, that’s up to the ally.

“Many families are isolated and have limited healthy support,” Smith said of participants who need good role models.

Ash pointed out that volunteers are needed in other areas as well, people to take care of the children, donate food, cook food, etc.

“This is something that can make all of Milaca a better place,” Ash noted of the hope that many people need these days.

Sunday school

There are classes for all ages and nursery is provided for infants through 2 yrs of age.

3 & 4 year olds are in a self-contained class, and Kindergarten through 4th grade rotate through different themed stations each week. This style of rotational learning helps meet the needs of all kids and the content helps kids live out their faith in their everyday lives.

5th & 6th, and 7th and 8th graders will be self-contained with a curriculum that helps middle schoolers connect the questions of life with what the Bible teaches.

9th and 10th graders go through two years of exploring the historical Christian Faith using the Heidelberg Catechism.

11th and 12th graders take those beliefs and figure out how to fit them into real life situations.

There will be several offerings for adults starting this fall. Watch the bulletin in August for announcements or call the church office.

Vacation Bible School:

Vacation Bible School is held one week during the summer for kids ages 3 through just finished 4th grade. We have a great time of learning about God through songs, stories, crafts, games and of course snacks. Each summer we have a different theme. Last summer was "Take the Plunge!" We had a water park adventure. Kids dove into the Word and explored how Jesus used the very common element of water to teach some uncommon lessons. Just watch as our kids build lasting relationships with each other and Jesus during the week of VBS. The dates for this summer are listed on the "Up & Coming Events" page. Watch the bulletin for dates and for ways to help out, registration forms and other information. Contact Trudy Ash at 320-983-2469 with any questions.
